Sorry, my kid is obsessed with Jack Skellington. I have the Halloween Town song stuck in my head.
It was Halloweeen on Saturday! Glorious weekend night full of trick-or-treating and rain!
Yes rain. It seems that the weather faeries have decided that Atlanta is doomed to rain on any day you want to go outside. Just look at the Ellijay pictures. This has been a weird year for weather, but I digress.
I found this plucky little witch on my way to our neighborhood parade.
She was hanging out with some zombie that we had to bring along with us.
We just missed the start of the parade
but we were able to catch the president at the end.

The zombie ditched the witch and I after deciding his friends were cooler. The witch was also guilty of ditching things
but the ghosts scared her back.
It started to rain again so I took the little witch home with me but I couldn’t resist one last shot.

Two weeks ago I packed up Delia and a friend for an adventure to north Georgia. An hour and a half later (I kept thinking we were lost) we made it to Hillcrest Orchards home of apple-pickin’, petting zoos, and a very random moonshine museum.
Lets focus on the apples for now.
The zoo was pretty awesome. Delia had a blast chasing chickens and hanging out with the cows.

This past year has brought a lot of change into my life. I am changing gears professionally and taking my skills as a photographer into a new medium. In the next few years I hope to begin professionally designing websites which is a change of pace from the art world. I do intend to continue producing photography and submitting work to galleries but making art is taking a back seat to other interests.
I think we all know that I can not live without my camera so I really do mean that I will continue making art.
As a part of developing a professional online presence I am planning to have Peaches and Juleps go big time with a website. I am currently working on a website for a friend and I plan to finish that before making Peaches and Juleps online. I am having a few issues deciding what type of focus the website will have. I do know that my graphic work will be the central focus but I think my photography will have a place on the site. The blog will continue but there will be a significant make over here too. I copped out and used a template for the current look. Since I am still working full time, attending school, photographing, and parenting there are a lot of obstacles to overcome. If someone could arrange for a 28 hour day I would be very grateful.
I am aiming for spring 2010 as a deadline but we all know how that goes. It is good to have goals, right? Any thoughts on the website would be greatly appreciated and you have plenty of time to think.
You can also expect to see the etsy store change a bit. (I know it needs more prints…shhhh, I’m on it.)
Big, big, big things are brewing in the land of fruit and cocktails!

Thanks to Jenn from Blondeshot I can now name a few people I don’t know.
Fiat Luxe, by Jason Butcher + Scott Carter + Mario Schambon The fluorescent legacy of Le Flash 2008 lives on at Castleberry Point”
This was a fun piece. Looking down into the building the lights looked like a spiderweb and when you stepped inside the installation you felt a sense of calm. Rare when talking about florescent lights.
Antonio Darden’s piece kept me guessing throughout the night. We didn’t catch the giant sign when we walked by it the first time since it was in an alley on the opposite side of the street. However, we kept seeing signs talking about Antoni Darden’s love of self-promotion.
I never got a good shot but you get the idea. It wasn’t clear if the signs were a joke, a part of the piece, or completely random walking around. Now that I know the name of the piece and have seen it, the signs make way more sense.
Some people just need to put their name in lights. “Antonio Darden My Name in Lights: It is what it is”
Have I ever mentioned how much I love weird, creepy, houses? Yes? This extends to dollhouses so Ting Ying Han’s “Shadows Unsettle a Dream House” got me all atwitter.
The piece was set up in a U-Haul trailer,
with a projection of a non-descript domestic environment
and depending on the angle the dollhouse cast shadows across the image.
I am still thinking about this one since I liked the execution so much. I have about a zillion other pictures of the piece but these were my favorites. I like it when art photographs well (because I am selfish and can’t afford to have a giant instillation in my house). it is a strange thing that makes me happy.
Still to come: preformance art.

I knew a few people participating in the Le Flash exhibits so of course I took pictures. I need to look up the artists I don’t know before I post their work. For now, the artists I know will have to be enough.
First up, Matt Haffner. This was my favorite piece of the night and not just because I am in it.

Next….Mike Reese (and his friend who I will name as soon as I can).

I know, I know. That isn’t the art but consider the presentation. There is only so much I can do! I think the presentation was interesting in and of itself. It isn’t every day you get to play with a viewmaster.

Blondeshot Creative certainly seemed to enjoy herself.
There is more coming. I just have to figure out who to credit.

This Friday a friend and I ventured to the Le Flash event in Castleberry Hill. Le Flash is a one night celebration that rings in the Atlanta Celebrates Photography events. The night is filled with performances, traveling installations, and stationary art.
There was also a very demanding cake.
Popping popcorn in an alley.
